Managing students in a computer lab can be difficult. I'm not sure how the computers in your lab are arranged but our arrangement makes it difficult for me to see all my students easily. If I'm on one side of the lab, I can't see what the other half of my class is doing which can be a problem. Your procedure for turning off computers and then making students write the policy is a good solution. I also try to make sure that students have something that must be turned in at the end of the lesson. If the assignment takes multiple days to complete, certain pieces are due during each classroom so I can make sure students are finishing tasks and not wasting time.
